African-Americans in Mayberry

Even in interviews with the creators of The Andy Griffith Show it has been heard that there were no black people in Mayberry.  While it wasn't until the later years of the series that there were any major parts for African-Americans, the earlier shows had black citizens going about their business in Mayberry in the background.   You have to be a "trained noticer" to see some of them, but they are there.
